In a medium saucepan, whisk together the water, brown sugar, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice and salt. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves.
When it comes to a simmer, reduce heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring often. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Cool the syrup completely. Transfer to an airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Add about 1 tablespoon to your beverage of choice. Adjust according to taste.
