This morning’s coffee experience is a pumpkin spice latte with a hint of vanilla crafted at home with my
small espresso machine.
“I have good things for you.” Those are the words that God spoke almost audibly to me one day as I was walking, praying, searching for answers. I mistook those words as an answer to my questions about an immediate relationship and headed in a direction that was far from good. After eight months, I finally removed myself from that situation. I still pondered those words so often, thinking they meant He had a good romantic relationship right around the corner for me.
Years later I finally realized that those good things are already all around me. Not that I was oblivious to them, but I wasn’t recognizing them as the “good things” God spoke of all those years ago. To list a few…four grown children who love and serve the Lord and make responsible decisions, their four spouses who are also beautiful children of God; four amazing and precious grandchildren; good relationships with my children, my parents and extended family and even my ex-husband and his wife; a job I love and never anticipated having; a church family to serve with the talents and gifts God has provided me.
Oh yes! God promised good things for me. I just needed to open my eyes and heart to see He had fulfilled the promise and continues to add to it in the most wonderful ways and in blessings I hadn’t anticipated or expected.
Always keep your eyes open for those unexpected answers to prayers. God has such good things for all of us!
Thank you, Lord, for being such a good, all-knowing and loving Father. Help me be patient as I wait for answers to prayer and to recognize the answers you give, especially when they aren’t what I was expecting. I thank you and praise You for chasing after me with Your perfect goodness…
